I agree with all of them except the second excuse to use when wanting to cut a conversation short, you shouldn't say you'll be back if you won't.

I also advise not to monopolize the conversation. Listen more than you speak. Ask questions about the other person's business or line of work.

This a great article for anyone who has trepidation meeting new people. I particularly liked how the article broke down the prospect of meeting new people into simpler more digestible bits. The sample conversations at the bit also help the more shy or introverted understand more how to engage in successful small talk.

I hope more people read this article, because initial conversations tend to be build on general impressions are about confidence or how one carries himself.

Lastly, I must agree with Carly, that lying about returning to a conversation isn't a good way to start building a working relationship with someone. It might be harder, but better to let them know you want to talk with some other people and expand your networking net.
